Imitaattori Jope Ruonansuu on kuollut lauantaina pitkän sairauden uuvuttamisesta.
Ruonansuu tuli tunnetuksi jo 80-90- lukujen taitteessa imitaatioistaan. Hän ehti pitkän uransa aikana julkaisemaan useita imitaatiota ja laulua sisältäviä levyjä.
Levyjen ja imitaatiokeikkojensa lisäksi Ruonansuu teki muun muassa Jopet Show’ta televisioon sekä näytteli 12 eri elokuvassa. Yksi hänen tunnetuimmista elokuvarooleistaan oli Heka Haimakaisen rooli Timo Koivusalon Pekko- elokuvissa.
Ruonansuun uran varrella hän on imitoinut jokaista hänen uransa aikana vallassa ollut tasavallan presidenttiä aina Mauno Koivistosta Sauli Niinistöön saakka.
Lisäksi hänen ikimuistoisia hahmoja ovat olleet Seppo Kääriäis-imitaatiot ja Posti-Pekun eli Pekka Vennamon imitaatiot. Eikä hänen Martti Ahtisaari– imitaatioita voi olla mainitsematta. Unohtamatta tietenkään Amerikan kirjeenvaihtajan Aarne Tannisen hahmoa.
Hänen albumeistaan yhdeksän on myynyt kultaa ja vuonna 2002 ilmestynyt Työnnä kännykkä hanuriin sekä 2003 kauppoihin tullut Finnshits. Mieleenpainuvimmista Ruonansuun levytyksistä on ollut vuoden 1994 presidentinvaaleihin tähtäävä Jope presidentiksi– levy, joka ilmestyi 1993.
Uran aikana Ruonansuu levytti myös vakavampia kappaleita sisältävän albumin Enkeleitä toisillemme. Jope Ruonansuu oli kuollessaan 56- vuotias. Hän sairastui keväällä 2018 ruokatorven syöpään.
Ruonansuun kuolemasta ensimmäisenä kertoi Yle.
